Journey into the Music Industry

2025 Will be the year I take make my dreams come true, I promise myself this. For a lot of us, creative passions were always pushed aside in favor of "real jobs" and "making money". I know I've been told, "It can just be a hobby", without any regard for what that path really means. To me, that path meant spending 12 hours a day giving my body and my mind to a cause I could not care for long term. It's incredible how much energy it takes to put on a mask and play the corporate game. Day after Day you act like a robot waiting to be primed for your next action, no regard for who you are, how you've gotten there, and where you might go.
I've always been able to make deep connections with people quickly. I'm the type who can be friends with the quietest person in the class. The ability to connect is simple, I listen a lot, despite what my Mother might tell you (<3). I listen deeply to people's words, and I listen to their body language and their expression. I listen with the intent to share experiences and understand people. And what I found from listening so much, is how much creativity exists in our coworkers. We come every day to the same room, running the same social framework, but beneath all of that is someone who used to tour with a band, a mom who promoted shows in her 20's, and people who I had so much to learn from.
My Journey into the Music Business will of course become increasingly corporate. Once there's money, there's someone with a "claim" to it. Once there's attention, there's a team with a playbook ready to wash and repeat. But I can't let this dream sit idle any longer. I'm ready to be uncomfortable, embarrassed, and work my ass off to make my visions come to life. And if I can't convince all my creative coworkers to quit their horrible jobs, then I'd like to at least give them music to listen to, and performances to experience.
Anyway, the journey starts with me asking 1000 questions, and making big leaps. My goals for the year are to pick an MBA program, post video content regularly, and find artists to work with. The goal for my career is to work with a hugely successful artist on an album rollout including a unique tour, a film, and political activism. Hwaiting!
